Dish Name: Sunny Sunny Morning
Artist: Vincent Van Gogh
Painting based on: Starry Starry Night

We will basing our food on the famous artwork, Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. We chose this painting because it is one of the most well known images in modern culture as well as being one of the most replicated and sought after prints. Our food will take after the painting techniques that the artist has applied in the painting, as well as the little tonal values, its lack of depth, etcetera.

Our food will be a parody of the painting and will be named “Sunny sunny Morning”.

For the bold, choppy and swirly brushstrokes of the sky, we will be using short strands of white soba, because they are flexible and thin, making it easier for it to be made into different shapes. They will be short to show the choppiness of the brushstrokes.

Seaweed will be used for the tree in the foreground, as they are long and curvy. For the sun in the sky, we will be using egg yolk to bring out the vivid and brilliant colours of the painting. Corn, short strips of ham and cheese will be used for the houses in the background to represent the short visible brushstrokes. We have decided to use these food so as to show the brightness and vibrancy of the painting. These food are made of mostly primary colours, and there will also be stark contrasts between the different foods so as to bring out the brightness of the morning sun.
